A Vancouver, BC radio station Peak 100.5 FM had a contest to create a commercial for them. After listening to the warp, distortion and static featured in one of the audio jingles that was made available to contestants I decided to play with particle effects that would capture that same feel but in a visual way.
I started with one of my aerial photographs of Mount Baker, Washington (which is very prominent in the South Eastern skyline from Vancouver) and added the mountain peak artwork from the station's existing logo. Then I just experimented with Adobe After Effects until I put together a look that I felt matched the audio.
True, it is not technically a commercial per se but since most commercials include a logo bumper I'm hoping the radio station will find this useful and pick me as one of the winners of their contest. If not it is still another piece of work to show off in my portfolio.
